April 26: Rosemont, Illinois-based FCA Packaging announced its acquisition of Fort Worth, Texas-based Greentree Packaging and Lumber, a company founded in 2014 with nearly 200 employees focused on making custom wood packaging.

“Together, FCA and Greentree will be able to better serve our customers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as well as nationally across our 40-location network,” FCA CEO David Wilsted said in a statement. FCA is backed by Illinois-based private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital.

Separately, Canadian forestry company West Fraser Timber, which also has facilities in the U.S. and Europe, announced it completed the sale of its Quesnel River and Slave Lake pulp mills to an affiliate of a fund managed by Atlas Holdings, which owns multiple pulp and paper businesses across North America. The British Columbia and Alberta mills, respectively, are instrumental in making paper products. The sale was first announced last August.

Other recent deals include ProMach’s acquisition of Etiflex and Sev-Rend’s acquisition of Wolarmann Enterprise.

While some parts of the packaging industry are already highly consolidated and recent economic challenges have created headwinds, deals are happening. Packaging Dive aims to track as many as possible throughout 2024 to help you stay up to date.

Although the packaging industry is global, this list focuses on deals involving companies that are either based in the U.S. or have a notable U.S. presence. We list the acquirers in alphabetical order by their parent company or common operating name, which may differ from the specific legal entities involved in the acquisitions. The list can be sorted by category by clicking on each column title in the table below.
