The new year has brought new announcements of headquarters changes, warehouse expansions, establishment of specialty hubs and more for packaging manufacturers. Here are more than 10 recent developments:
- BJK Flexible Packaging is planning to build a new 52,150-square-foot warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky, where it’s based, Louisville Business First reported. BJK offers custom bags and other film products.
- Georg Utz plans to establish a 90,000-square-foot facility in Sumter County, South Carolina, that is scheduled to begin manufacturing rigid returnable packaging in 2028. The company projects that the roughly $40 million investment will create 50 new jobs at what will be its first South Carolina operation. Georg Utz operates under Switzerland-based plastic container and pallets specialist Utz Group.
- Hinton Lumber Products opened a greenfield pallet manufacturing facility in Summerville, South Carolina, with production slated to begin this spring. The proximity to Charleston offers key port and interstate access, Hinton said.
- Infinity Global, a Danville, Virginia-based packaging supplier serving luxury brands, announced a $34 million expansion at its headquarters. The investment will reportedly more than double the company’s Virginia workforce, creating 150 new jobs.
- PAC Machinery, a Wisconsin-based supplier of flexible packaging solutions, opened a West Coast distribution center in January to more economically and efficiently provide regional customers with its stock bags.
- Printpack, an Atlanta-based manufacturer of flexible and specialty rigid packaging, completed upgrades at its Bloomington, Indiana, facility to make that a bagging and pouching hub. Additions included new bag-making machines and enhanced slitting capabilities. The plant will focus on providing large format bags for pet food, plus serving lawn and garden, bulk food products and other markets starting in Q1.
- Questar Solutions announced that as of January it would shift its North Canton, Ohio, corporate headquarters and warehouse to a larger, upgraded facility elsewhere in the city. The industrial packaging specialist also announced it’s opening a new distribution center in Atlanta.
- Silgan moved its headquarters from Stamford to Norwalk, Connecticut, the New Canaan Advertiser reported.
- SunDance expanded its Orlando, Florida, operations to meet growing demand. A new building houses the packaging and printing specialist’s folding carton, finishing and mailing functions, including new commercial printers and inline camera equipment.
- T.O. Plastics recently upgraded its Clearwater, Minnesota, production facility with new extrusion lines and an additional pelletizer line. T.O. specializes in thermoformed plastics and custom packaging for customers in medical, horticulture, industrial, electronic, agriculture and other end markets.
- Unified Global Packaging Group is adding a 450,000-square-foot warehouse in Westminster, Massachusetts, to be completed in 2027, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported. Unified is part of The Kraft Group.
Canada, Mexico, Europe announcements
- Massilly North America, a metal twist-off closures and beverage crowns manufacturer based in Ontario, is investing $85 million to establish a new production facility for food cans. The development will reportedly create 50 new manufacturing jobs.
- PakTech is reportedly working to get a logistics warehouse up and running in Mexico in March or April after opening offices in Guadalajara. PakTech is an Oregon-based manufacturer of injection molded recycled HDPE plastic handles for the food and beverage industry, including custom handles for containers and can and bottle carrier handles for multipacks.
- Metsä Board announced it will open a new packaging design studio in Milan, Italy, in summer 2026, to work more closely with European brand owners, converters and packaging developers.
- Tetra Pak is investing 60 million euros in a new paper-based barrier pilot plant in Lund, Sweden, with ramp up expected in Q1 2027.
