Sealed Air has hired Russell Grissett as its new president for the global food business, the company detailed Wednesday in a LinkedIn post.
Grissett joins from Toppan Packaging Americas, where he served as president and CEO this year following Toppan’s purchase of Sonoco’s thermoforming and flexibles packaging business.
It’s the latest in a series of executive changes at Sealed Air this year, which also named a new CEO and new CFO in 2025. This follows Sealed Air’s announcement on Nov. 20 that President of Food Steven Flannery would depart immediately. That was just days after Sealed Air agreed to be acquired.
Grissett was Sonoco’s president of global thermoformed and flexibles packaging up until April of this year, when the deal closed, and previously held the title of president of global flexibles — part of a nearly 30-year tenure at Sonoco.
Grissett also currently chairs the board of directors for the Flexible Packaging Association.
Sealed Air could be taken private by mid-next year. In November, the company agreed to be acquired by funds affiliated with private equity firm CD&R for an estimated $6.2 billion, though that’s subject to change. The deal allowed for Sealed Air to actively solicit additional acquisition offers for 30 days, through Dec. 16.
Sealed Air executives said on the most recent earnings call they saw opportunities to diversify the food business further in retail and food service.
