The southeastern United States is a top region for recent packaging company announcements about North American expansions. Here are five expansions on Packaging Dive’s radar:
- DRC Industries, a Kentucky-based fiber industrial packaging specialist, is investing approximately $4 million to establish a presence in Columbus, Mississippi. It will set up operations in an existing facility there, which would enhance service to customers throughout the Southeast. This project is expected to create 50 jobs, and the Mississippi Development Authority is providing tax incentives.
- TricorBraun opened a new warehouse in Laval, Quebec, to expand its Canadian distribution network. This site will help the Missouri-based company position inventory closer to regional customers to provide greater supply chain flexibility and reduce delivery times.
- UFP Packaging, a subsidiary of UFP Industries, intends to invest about $5.3 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Gaffney, South Carolina. The site will focus on wood packaging for industrial customers in the Southeast. Operations are slated to come online during the second quarter of 2027. The project is expected to create 136 jobs over five years. The state’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for this project.
- Vert, which launched three years ago to supply flexible packaging for the cannabis industry and has expanded to serve CPG brands, opened its new facility in Longmont, Colorado. The 35,000-square-foot pouch and roll stock production site was built around HP Indigo digital printing technology. Pouch production at the facility began last month, CEO Dustin Steerman said on LinkedIn.
- Wyda Packaging, a Brazil-based aluminum packaging company, confirmed its intention to double production capacity in the next two years at its facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, reports The Charlotte Observer. The 26,000-square-foot facility opened about two years ago and is the company’s sole location in the U.S.
