- Genpak announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Cedar City, Utah, by May 23, affecting 200 employees. The food service packaging manufacturer cited “rising legislative polystyrene bans in neighboring states” as a factor in the shutdown.
- Millwood, a Midwest pallets specialist, is closing a site in Melrose Park, Illinois. This location specializes in packaging and supply chain solutions. Layoffs impacting 112 workers are slated for May through August.
- Packaging Corporation of America on March 31 disclosed plans to permanently close a full-line plant in Richmond, Virginia, this June, affecting 110 employees.
- Smurfit Westrock plans to close a corrugated converting plant in Wakefield, Massachusetts, resulting in 91 layoffs starting in mid-May, according to a March 18 WARN letter. Workers affiliated with Teamsters began striking at the site on March 23 following the expiration of their contract.
